We take the regulatory boundary between “referral service” and “financial product advice” seriously. Here’s how it works in practice.

We are a referral service

Insure My Business does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL). We do not provide financial product advice, do not recommend specific products, do not quote, and do not place cover. We help you describe your business and connect you with a licensed broker who does all of those things.

Your matched broker holds the AFSL

Every broker on the platform holds and maintains their own AFSL, carries professional indemnity cover, and is responsible to you for the advice they give. They’re drawn from the Steadfast cluster — a vetted, professional broker network.

About the AI

The discovery flow uses an AI provided by Anthropic (based in the US) to ask questions and structure your information. The AI is configured to gather information — not to give advice. If you ask for a recommendation or a price, it will decline and refer you to your matched broker.

Data handling

Your records live in Australian-hosted infrastructure (Supabase Sydney). AI processing happens in the US; only what’s necessary for the conversation is sent, and the results come back to Australia. Full details are in our Privacy Policy and Disclosure Statement.
